Excerpt quote of letter:
Hello,
We’ve never asked for Barnes and Noble to put a book up this early before, but The Crossley ID Guide is now available for pre-orders. More importantly, Richard has provided an exclusive video to B&N about his philosophy of bird identification and why he wrote this particular book. I hope you will click over and watch the video and then share it with your friends, family, and readers! Barnes and Noble provides embed code right on their site or a convenient pop-up video link.
Here is the book’s site on Barnes and Noble.com: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/The-Crossley-ID-Guide/Richard-Crossley/e/9780691147789/?itm=2. The video is in the lower right corner in a box names Barnes and Noble Studio.
I can’t wait for this book and hope you are excited to see this video too!
Thank you,
Jessica

Today I’m not blogging about the “Mile High Club” 🙂 I’ll be within the subject of love but referring to birds!
I can see the Mourning Doves, chasing each other, Northern Cardinals singing like crazy and male Cardinals, ‘handsomely wearing their best red suits and crowns combed in the latest styles wooing the gorgeous tanned redheads that hang around the backyard’. Love is in the air! There’s no doubt.
I had the opportunity to observe a couple of Brown-headed cowbirds in the act of flirting while perched on top of pine trees later starting the “chase” The photos Im posting today are testimony of what I just shared with you.
Yesterday we had a hot and humid day, for a while I sat on my backyard deck and then decided to see if I could take some pictures while I relaxed.
I tried my best no to be noted and a few birds stared to show up. Most birds were Brown-headed Cowbirds. But I’m not picky.
I was satisfied with the results and I will try it again today. The main problem is that if I’m on the deck the birds can see me and they get spooked. I need to conceal my presence, that will be key for better pictures. I’ll figure out something. 🙂
Have a good Sunday!
It was very nice to see the Indigo Bunting again at my feeders, not only that it mingle with another small bird, the Carolina Chickadee. The photos I’m posting serves as a comparison of size. The Indigo Bunting is like a small version of the Blue Grosbeak.
Other than that it’s very difficult to identify it at first sight.
I have a nest built in the clothes dryer vent, just like last year. Funny thing is that I don’t have that bird listed in my list of visitors: Tree Swallow
I see them everyday, I see them going in the vent but I haven’t been able to take a picture of them yet…One of these days! 🙂
Enjoy my pictures!
