Birds of the Week # 47
Great Blue Heron

Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) is a large wading bird in the heron family Ardeidae.
Snowy Heron

Snowy Heron (Egretta thula) is a small white heron. The genus name comes from Provençal French for the little egret, aigrette, which is a diminutive of aigron, ‘heron”.
Great Egret

Great Egret (Ardea alba), also known as the common egret, large egret, or (in the Old World) great white egret or great white heron. Like all egrets, it is a member of the heron family, Ardeidae.
Note: These birds were photographed in different parts of Florida.

Wonderful to see this series of waders you snapped in Florida, H.J. Sending a smile of thanks your way, my friend.
Thanks so much, my friend. I’m sending you a smile too…here! 🙂
Loved all those wading birds.
Aren’t they beautiful? Thank you, Susan. 🙂
Time past, I was surprised as tall these wonderful birds are, they only weigh 2-4 pounds depending.
They don’t weigh much, their bones are hollowed and their legs are long too. Thank you! 🙂
I love all these beautiful, long-legged waders. Your photos captured them nicely, H.J.
Thanks a lot, Tanja. 🙂
Aw, gee, H.J., beautiful. Can’t you send a Great Blue or two up north to Massachusetts? It’s time, but I have only seen one of these magnificent creatures (and from a distance) so far this year! Cheers, Julie
It’s too cold, right now. Just be patient. You might see them in the summer. Thank you, Julie. 🙂
