Hummers for M-R

This particular post is about the Ruby-throated Hummingbird. They are not yet present in my town but I’m posting some pictures from my archives.

I usually do not post on request but this time is an exception. This bird has caused certain impression to a dear friend follower that lives far, far away like somewhere in Australia. Her name is too long to write it so we all know her as M-R. and believe me when I say people know her.

Smart, intelligent, sharp, artistic, magnetic personality, good looking… ok, enough about me! She’s a wonderful person that always gets what she wants or you will suffer the consequences of her literary wrath!

Besides, who’s going to say no to such sweet lady!… (Are you grinning?).

Well, to make a long story short (for my blogging is usually the way around), the birds that you’re going to see are very small and weigh an average of 5 grams! They are extremely fast fliers and can easily hover or fly backwards. I love those little birds, they are the birds that have touched my feelings more than any other.

  These are such stunning birds. When we lived in Southern California we planted some flowers in the garden with the express purpose of attracting hummingbirds, but were never able to photograph them as beautifully as this. I wish!

Amazing photos of these amazing creatures! We’ve got hummingbirds all over Southern California. They appear, hover for a few seconds, then dart away at warp speed. I don’t have the camera or the patience to capture them. This ruby-throated h’bird is a real looker! Nice gift for M-R.

I love hummingbirds and the deep buzzing they make as they zoom around. The photo you captured of the hummer at the feeder is amazing … I guess largely because I’ve never actually seen their wings! Absolutely beautiful!!

M-R almost speechless? That’ll be the day. 🙂 We have been visited by hummingbirds in our backyard whenever the landscaping is in bloom and I can tell you they do not hum. They sound like miniature speed boat when they are hovering near you.
