Regular Residents
The Tufted Titmice are almost complete with process of molting and are also getting larger in size. These birds have become regular residents of my backyard and are consistent “customers” at my feeders. They eat only sunflower seeds and are experts at cracking them open. They are not birds that hang out at the feeders, generally, they pick one sunflower seed and fly back to their nest or a far branch to crack the seed, then come back to the same spot and repeat the action. A few seasons back I had a hard time to photograph the Tufted Titmice for the reason that it was to fast and stayed put too short of a time. Once I studied his habits I had no problem at all. They are nice birds!

I had some Tufted Titmice in my area last year. Not sure where they are this year but they are no longer here. Nice pics
They are migratory birds but if the conditions are not to harsh in winter in that location they might decide to stay locally. Thank you! 🙂
I love these little birds and they live in my area, but I don’t get them at my feeders. I guess they are just not in my immediate neighborhood.
Their preferred seeds are the sunflower seeds, if you don’t have those in any of your feeders they will not go to your feeders. Thank you for sharing Annie! 🙂
I DO have sunflower seeds! Maybe I need to hang out a sign that says, “Titmice Welcome!” 🙂
