Great Blue Heron One of my Favorite Birds

Today I’m posting some photos from my archives, some shots taken in previous seasons. The subject is the Great Blue Heron. The location is High Falls Park in Jackson, Georgia.

Very pretty place to visit and enjoy the landscape and wild life. Besides, you can go camping, swimming and canoeing.

I usually just dedicate to the river side because I know that Great Blue Herons have nests near by and they love to go fishing in the river. I’ve seen and photographed other species of birds there too but the main subject is always one of my favorite birds, the Great Blue Heron.

  1. Gorgeous HJ! Always in the top of my faves too. They really are interesting to watch, I think they are the top bird that has taught me my patience with photographing birds. They can stand in a spot for a long time, so lovely….not moving….maybe just a turn of the head….not moving….can go on for minutes, even an hour, a real challenging bird and to your patience! But if you can hang with them, when they do move or turn & the sunlight hits them just right, they are just so absolutely stunning, and well worth the wait. 🙂 Love your captures, HJ!

    • You’re absolutely right with your assessment about the Great Blue Heron, they are remarkable birds. Thank you very much for your comment! 🙂
