Great Blue Heron One of my Favorite Birds
Today I’m posting some photos from my archives, some shots taken in previous seasons. The subject is the Great Blue Heron. The location is High Falls Park in Jackson, Georgia.
Very pretty place to visit and enjoy the landscape and wild life. Besides, you can go camping, swimming and canoeing.
I usually just dedicate to the river side because I know that Great Blue Herons have nests near by and they love to go fishing in the river. I’ve seen and photographed other species of birds there too but the main subject is always one of my favorite birds, the Great Blue Heron.

Great photos, H.J.
Thanks Bob! 🙂
Very nice HJ. I do like big birds. I wonder why?
Thank you Dave! 🙂
These guys can get really rather large! I love them. This photo reminds me of close encounters I’ve had with these birds. I love them. Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you for your comment Annie! 🙂
Gorgeous HJ! Always in the top of my faves too. They really are interesting to watch, I think they are the top bird that has taught me my patience with photographing birds. They can stand in a spot for a long time, so lovely….not moving….maybe just a turn of the head….not moving….can go on for minutes, even an hour, a real challenging bird and to your patience! But if you can hang with them, when they do move or turn & the sunlight hits them just right, they are just so absolutely stunning, and well worth the wait. 🙂 Love your captures, HJ!
You’re absolutely right with your assessment about the Great Blue Heron, they are remarkable birds. Thank you very much for your comment! 🙂
Several months ago I found a spot here where a solitary blue heron likes to hang out and fish. It’s so much fun to go watch it early in the morning and late in the evening.
Yes, they’re cool! I like them a lot! Thanks! 🙂
