Eastern Bluebird
It’s official, the bird house’s been taken by a couple of Eastern Bluebirds.
She spend most of her time in the house and the male flies out but doesn’t stick around for very long. I was lucky to take a few shots. I think they feel intimidated by other birds that have nests in the area. E. Bluebirds like to raid other bird’s nests and steel eat their eggs.
I never interfere with the natural rules so it is what it is!

Oh, this is so wonderful and exciting.
It is indeed! I love to observe and learn their behavior and I was very intrigued buy one thing: How do bluebirds know those houses are build for them?
They are built expressly for Bluebirds. Thanks Jullie! 🙂
They are clever birds!
Mr. Bluebird looks so cute! So glad they are visiting your yard. We have not seen them for years!
They’re being very evasive, they have to familiarize a bit more with the area and bird population. Thanks Karen for the comment! 🙂
I am envious.
Tom, you have more birds visiting your luscious gardens that anybody! 🙂 Thanks!
🙂
Thank you D.! 🙂
Such a vivid blue color; so enchanting!
Thank you, you described it well! 🙂
Wonderful Bluebird photos. Here we have the Mountain Bluebird, which is promoted through extensive nesting box usage.
I am spreading the word on a subject dealing witht the protection of birds. It comes from ‘The Guardian’ Newspaper: Scott’s Miracle-Gro deliberately added bird-killing chemicals to their bird seed.
I didn’t hear about that on the news. What? Are they crazy? That’s illegal and criminal! I’m going to check that right now. Thanks for your comment and the info! 🙂
I don’t like giving something this negative on your very positive blog, but at least we now know . . . it’s a wonderful site you have.
forgive me–that link didn’t take . . . so here is another link to the article . . .

I have posted the link on my blog and read the article also. Thanks a lot! 🙂
How could anyone kill bluebirds??? Any birds!!!! My heart hurts!!!
But your photo is so clear, so wonderful, and the new home for them is great…there is hope.
I Know! It’s terrible! Remember a few years back there was a problem with cat food they were importing from China? It was contaminated with a bad filler that blocked the cat’s kidneys, well, I lost my adorable Black Oriental short-haired cat after we had him in a hospital and had operations and all. I cried for that loss. Makes me sad every time I think of it. He was perfect!
My mother has a blue bird, i think she fattened up so much he has decide to live in her back yard. I lill have her post it one day. It’s certainly rounder then this one.
They usually look plumper but is actually fluffier when is windy or cool. Sure I’d like to see this Bluebird’s picture. thanks for the comment! 🙂
