Slippery slope
For many birds from the Southeast have been tough to get food, since the ground is cover with not only snow but ice.
I was observing the birds that come to my backyard feeders and I cold see that even when they can fly auk they have a hard time to walk or hop around on the ground. Sometimes it’s quite humorous to see the birds sliding down a slope or not slopping when they land and inertia makes them slip further.
I resorted to fill the feeders and spread the seeds on the ground for the ground feeding birds. It worked pretty well. Yesterday I cleaned my car from all the ice that had covered it and went food shopping, whatever it was left on the shelves! In the way to the store, The road was blocked because an accident and we had to drive via a back road. It was really messy and treacherous with ice spots. Luckily the road was deserted of cars.
We’re trying to avoid going out because the condition on our road is not very safe. Here in the South do not expect snow to accumulate ever and they do not clean the roads nor salt them. It’s harder for everybody when snows like this. C’est la vie!
Here are some photos for you. Drive safe wherever you are! 🙂
