American Goldfinch, sp. name: “Carduelis Tristis”

Description:

The American Goldfinch is a small finch with short conical bill and small head, long wings and notched tail.

Males are bright yellow with black forehead, black wings with white markings, and white patches above and beneath the tail.

Females are duller yellow beneath olive above.

Their habitat: They like weedy fields and flood-plains. They are also foun in orchards and backyards.

I haven’t seen much of them this year, I wish they come back because I love to see their beautiful and bright plumage. 🙂
