Just a Few Words
I feel that you Should Know…
I felt that I should tell you, my friends, about what has been happening in my life since when I was absent from my blog for the passing of my dear cousin. He was like my closest friend since childhood and later when grownups he used to join me and travel when I went exploring, accompany me when shooting pictures. He was always ready for adventure. I lost him to cancer.
Before I departed to see his family, I had an incident while going in the plane, the carry-on overhead where my seat was was taken, so I went further on the plane there was space vacant but people were sitting already, made it very difficult for me to maneuver the carry-on in place. Suddenly, I felt some pain on the lumbar part of my back. I went to my seat. I went through the rest of trip a bit uncomfortable on my seat.
Once I saw my cousin’s family, I kind of forgot about the pain I had on my lower back. However, If I sat for too long I had the pain return to my back. Let’s fast forward to my return home…
Not long after returned home back to Georgia I went fo my final operation of cataract, that was postponed by my trip. I remember that my pain was increasing by then. But I wanted the eye operation to be over! A couple of days after my eye operation the pain in my back increased more. My wife Lucy and I went food shopping. When we got home while unloading the bags from my car, the last two bags I carried, they were not heavy at all, then this happen to me. My legs collapsed and I couldn’t stand up! What??…
I was the most surprised man in the world!
When Lucy saw me she got profoundly scared! She considers me to be a strong man and she thought maybe I had a stroke or heart attack. She immediately drove me to a Hospital ER I couldn’t believe the incredible pain I had in my legs and lower back.
They moved me around in a wheelchair took X-rays and the doctor told me that seeing the plates there was not a kind of injury or anything out of place. They gave my some shots for the pain, inflammation and other things. Also, a name of Orthopedist MD.
The reaction to the shots and medicine was horrific. Of course…
The pain increased, by the hour, my legs began to swell with water, everything began to get worse, I couldn’t sleep because the pain, no appetite to eat. I consulted my Primary MD, he stopped the medicines, given by the ER because they did not provide the Orthopedist MD to see me. The Pandemic, cold weather, vaccinations, Holidays. was a bad combination that worked against me!
Now is a month later, the pain has decreased considerably, had an MRI done and tomorrow I will see the Orthopedist MD to explain what is the problem and what to do to correct it. I have lost 20 lbs. of my body weight. So far, the only improvement!
Thank you for your patience. – H.J. Ruiz
So sorry HJ! I will truly pray for you.
Thank you, Kathy. I appreciate it, deeply, 🙂
Take care….
I will, Indira. Thank you! 🙂
Oh goodness! Wishing for you continuing improvement and excellent medical care so your pain disappears soon. This is no way to begin a new year!
Thanks so much, Babsje. I hope to be well soon and back to normal. 🙂
I hope this issue is resolved quickly!
It will be resolved next week. Thanks, Belinda. 🙂
Dear H.J.,
I’m so sorry to hear about your ordeal and I hope you will answers to your questions and a solution for your problems.
All the best,
Tanja
My Orthopedist MD promises to do that next week! Thank you so much, Tanja. 🙂
I’m glad for you, H.J.
Thinking of you,
Tanja
Goodness poor, poor you. What a dreadful experience you have gone through. Lots of sympathy and hope something can be done to lessen the pain.
Thanks so much, Susan. I saw my MRI images and discovered that my spine is inflamed and touching the walls, producing the fireworks of pain. The Orthopedist MD will apply an epidural injection of steroid to the spine to make it better. No need of operation, luckily. 🙂
That’s good news at least. Hope you are out of pain soon.
Not good, HJ. Sharp, debilitating and unexplained pain is hard to take. Hope you get some answers and relief.
Thanks so much, Chris. This morning I went to see my Orthopedist MD and showed me the imaging of my lumbar area, he said my spine is inflamed, that is touching the walls and producing the pain. Luckily, there’s no damage, vertebras are fine, no compression, no calcification, etc. = No surgery.
Just an epidural injection of an steroid will do the trick. 🙂
Hope it does HJ. It is no fun being in pain.
Thanks fr sharing HJ, it has been a real ordeal for you through your health issues this last year, and we pray that improvement will come. Look to the Lord Jesus for his healing mercy as he took our infirmities and diseases into himself when he bore them on the cross. Praying for his peace and rest and for relief from your pain my friend.
Thanks so much for your words, Ashley. I hope to be OK soon. 🙂
I hope that you get your back sorted out. Back pain is intolerable.
Thank you very much, Tom. Yes! 🙂
Don’t worry about your blog if you’ve got more serious things to deal with. Concentrate on getting better, and we’ll all be here when you have recovered.
I could not, just leave my friends. I want them to love my birds and make a better world with Nature. I need to be in touch with people, too. Thanks so much dear John. 🙂
Oh, HJ, so sorry to hear of your injury, I pray tomorrow you’ll start finding the answers and begin proper treatment to recovery. Take care, my friend.
This morning I went to my Orthopedist MD and showed me the MRI images, where the spine nerve is so inflamed that is touching the bone. Discarded the need of surgery and next week will give me an epidural Injection of steroid directly to the spine to calm the affected nerve. Thank you very much, Donna. 🙂
Thankful it’s not surgery. I’ve had that injection done at the top of my spine followed by PT from my fall accident that required my total knee replacement also. Be well, HJ! 🙏
That’s good news in your last comment. You might ask your orthopedist if therapy of some sort could be useful. I suffered a similar condition to yours several years ago. In my case, it was a stress fracture in my spine, but my ortho wanted me to try therapy rather than surgery. He sent me to a sports therapist who gave me exercises to do, and in a month I was pain free. Now, if I feel little twinges, I do those exercises again, and they go away.
Of course I don’t know what has caused your condition, and it could be quite different. Still, there are many things that can be done these days to relieve such problems — hoping for the best for you, and a quick end to pain!
In my case, I had X-rays taken and found no fractures, no herniated discs, nothing out of place that would indicate trauma.
Later, the MRI shows no out of place vertebra and the spine is inflamed by touching the walls inside the vertebra. No surgery suggested by the Orthopedist MD. Just steroid epidural injection. Thank you, my friend. 🙂
I hope you get answers soon. There is nothing worse than not knowing. All the best to you and Lucy.
Thanks a lot, Jane. After looking at the MRI I know that the spine is inflamed caused by a bad move in my part. This coming week will be the potential solution of my problems. 🙂
So sorry to hear about the medical challenges you’ve had while also having to deal with the loss of such a precious love one, H.J. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and wish you a speedy and complete recovery.
Thank you of your words and prayers, my friend, D, I appreciated very much. 🙂
Sorry to hear H.J. Sounds like you have had a rough time as of late – my sympathies on your loss and best wishes for a speedy recovery. The posts can wait, we can wait – your health cannot wait. Focus on getting better!
Thanks so much, Brian. I’m going as fast as I can in finding the solution of my problem. Now, with the Pandemic situation is making things more difficult to find available MDs and nurses. 🙂
I wish you the best things to relieve your pains. May all be fine.
Thanks a lot, Urzre. 🙂
I hope they find the problem and you recover 100% soon!
Thanks so much, Deborah. 🙂
So sorry to hear this! Wishing you answers to what is causing this!
Jie
Thanks so much, Julie. 🙂
Oh HJ! I am so sorry you have suffered so much recently. I do so hope that the doctors find out what the problem is and you get better very soon. My husband suffered a partial slipped disc in his back a few years ago and he also fell over and found difficulty in walking for some time. He is much better now so I hope the same good result will happen to you. Clare 🙂 🙂
Hi, Clare. Just yesterday i had a procedure, The Orthopedist saw the MRI plate and it wasn’t a disc or broken vertebra instead was a terrible inflammation on my spine caused by a bad move. Later he injected me a steroid to the spine. I feel much better now and will get to normal in a few days. Thanks so much, dear Clare. 🙂
I am so pleased you are feeling better, dear HJ! Take care of yourself xoxo
I am so very sorry to hear of your back pain, HJ. I am oh-so-familiar with back injuries, two slipped discs in 2015. The pain is incredible, as you found, but if you refrain from heavy lifting and keep exercising it (walking is my best pain mgmt), I can say from lots of experience that it will get better. I wish you the very best in healing and recovery, my friend. If you ever have a question, please don’t hesitate to email me.
