Fossils of the snowy egret have been reported from the Talara tar seeps of Peru and in Bradenton in Manatee County and Haile XIB in Alachua County in Florida, United States. The deposits were dated to the Late Pleistocene.

The oystercatchers are obviously good parents, judging by that plump chick!
They are, I remember walking along the beach and the male kept distracting me away from the nest; he used all the tricks in the book to get me to walk away. I figured there was a nest somewhere. I moved away and then I saw him go to the nest. Then I shot with a zoom lens. The whole family, together.
