What’s Up? – The Eye of the Storm

The Eye of the Storm

The past week was a tough one for me, not only for the crazy weather but a little closer to myself. Just a few days after I got surgery in my right eye, I accidentally hit the eye that had surgery recently. It was a painful experience ( I cursed a storm)  Generally, I  always try to be extra careful with all things that require care, but that didn’t include involuntary things, in other words, involuntary accidents.

The doctor examined my eye in question, and he told me there was absolutely no damage to the eye, however, it was bruised;  this by consequence extend the recovery time.  I’m not supposed to drive for now.

I’m extremely sensitive to light at the moment but the eyes will eventually adjust to normal.

I had days when I couldn’t stand the glare of TV or my computer ( set almost dark) for more than a few minutes. The central air heater is my worse enemy right now, they dry my eyes and get them very irritated. But I do notice, my eyes to be getting better.

Meanwhile in my backyard…

A couple of days ago,  my wife called me to look outside in the patio to a new bird that she’s never seen before. I tried so hard  to see the bird but the daylight was so bright that I couldn’t focus.

Now, you know what happened to me. I’m so grateful to many of my friends for their support and kind words while all these was occurring. My  sincere  thanks  to all of you, I really appreciate it.

    • Luckily there was no damage to the cornea. Thank you so much for your kind words, my dear Susan. You take care too. Happy Holidays! 🙂

  1. Forget the birds and the blogs for a little while and concentrate on getting well. I’ve had falls after my hip replacements, and it is so easy to cause yourself problems , so take life slowly for a while !!

  2. HJ: So sorry to hear of your eye and the extended recovery. Here’s hoping for a full return ASAP to normal, and your remarkable web site. Happy Holidays to you and your wife and family. Marty (M :-))

  3. Dear HJ, I do empathize with you, having experienced similar, praying the pain quickly dissipates and for rapid recovery. We give thanks that your eye was not damaged and as I said in previous comment that you will soon see a bright 2020 ahead for you and the family. As I find being a bloke it is hard to not do anything, and recovery is always a challenge, as it is for me at present with my heart. Blessings for a most enjoyable Christmas!

    • Thank you for your kind words. You are a good man, Ashley. Happy Holidays May G-d bring you a healthy and prosperous New Year to you and your loving family. 🙂

  4. I’m so sorry to hear about the accident, HJ, but relieved that no permanent damage was done. The body’s ability to heal is a marvelous thing, and you’ll soon be back to a more normal way of seeing the world. Light sensitivity and dry eyes are annoying at best, and I know you’ll be glad when that stage is over. Every good wish to you and yours for a merry Christmas, and a very happy and healthy New Year!

    • Thanks so much, Linda for your kind words. I’m feeling much better now, day by day the medicines are working miracles and will not take very long to be up to par. Happy Holidays to you, my good friend and your loving family. 🙂

  5. I’m so sorry you have had so much difficulty and pain with your eye, HJ. I hope that by now you are feeling a lot better and that you have had a happy Christmas. Best wishes for a happy and healthy new year xx

  6. H.J., sometimes I’ll take weeks or even months off so please don’t ever feel like you have to post something every day. I know WP encourages daily posts, but people need personal time as well.
