High excitement in my crepe myrtles yesterday — the cardinal babies have fledged. I couldn’t understand why there was so much racket, or why the male and female both were hopping around and calling like crazy — then I spotted one of the babies in a nearby bush. A few hours later, they’d all moved on to wherever the parents wanted them to be. I’d wondered if their nest had survived recent storms, and the answer clearly is “yes”!
Cardinals are well adapted for heat, cold or storms. They are very resilient and good parents also. I’m glad that your cardinals proved me right. Thank you, Linda. 🙂
