Red Gallery – Northern Cardinal
Northern Cardinals are colorful, tolerant of people, have pleasant calls, and are easily attracted to bird feeders. That has made them a favorite of backyard birdwatchers all over the eastern half of the U.S. Cardinals may form winter flocks of 60-70 birds. Their bright plumage brings color to our yards during the winter when many other species have flown south.

Beautiful as always, HJ!
Thanks so much, Chris. 🙂
My Saturday morning is complete with these beautiful “Reds”! Thank you, HJ! 🙂
Thank you very much, Donna. 🙂
Yesterday, I finally found the family that belongs to the single male who’s been showing up at my place. Whether I saw the female and two young ones, or three young, I’m not sure, but now I know where they’re hiding out, and can watch for them.
Oh! That’s great, Linda. Thank you for sharing. 🙂
They are giving you great company, HJ! 🙂
Always! We are all a great family. Thanks, Indira. 🙂
Excellent photographs, thank you.
Thank you, Susan. Have a great weekend. 🙂
Wonderful ‘reds’!
Thank you, Clare. Enjoy your weekend. 🙂
Thank you, HJ. And the same to you and your family. 🙂
I so enjoyed this look at the stately northern cardinal, HJ. As you listed the reasons they are a favorite, I remembered there were several US states that made it their state bird. Quick look up: seven states have the cardinal for their state bird: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia. That is a much-loved species. Great post, my friend, I love the Red Gallery.
Thank you very much, Jet. They have them in their State, I have them in my heart and my backyard! 🙂
