What’s Up? – Three glorious days, and…
Three glorious days, and…
The past week we had three glorious days of perfect weather, they had the signature of truly autumn weather. I, for one, was very happy, during those three days, this is why:
I had 21 different species of birds fleeting around my backyard! With days like that it was really inviting to be outdoors looking to the opportunity for shooting hundreds of photos.
Then, after the third day, the weather reversed from glorious to nasty, cold, gray and windy day. After a while of this kind of weather, we received weather news for tornado alarm for Alabama and Georgia. I’m sure that you have, most likely seen the news on TV. The predictions were became real when there was tornado touch down in Alabama for 65 miles and devastated many homes in that area, including 23 fatalities. The stats show that 38 tornados touched land in Alabama and Georgia combined.
Tornados caused damages in Georgia, and thankfully no fatalities. The closest tornado from my area was approximately 60 miles.
My condolences for the families that lost relatives.

That’s a wonderful gathering of visitors to your back yard HJ, I have never had more than 6 species visit our yard at any one time. Yes the devastation was terrible, I saw it on the news. It must be scary living in those tornado areas.
That can show how beautiful things can be and turn in a total tragedy the next. Thank you my friend. 🙂
Nice collection of birds, HJ. There is some wild weather happening in all corners of the world! Stay safe.
Thank you Chris. I appreciate it! 🙂
My visitors too- I just love the Grackles- their colors are so beautiful.
Yes, they are amazing birds. Thank you! 🙂
38 ? Did not realize it was so many and my heart goes out to those who lost family and friends
And I love the collage of visitors – you have some wonderful photos of our avian friends
Thank you very much Ivette. Take care. 🙂
Excellent variety and awesome captures, HJ! The word is out, “Buffet at HJ’s” (hey, that’s got a nice ‘ring’ to it!), and how wonderful that is that they know where to find food. Very glad to hear your area was spared the tornadoes, my condolences as well for those devastated with their losses.
Yes, I think all birds are convinced that I run a restaurant! The menu has extended the list and it’s attracting warblers!
I just hope that I will never have to go through any tornado in my area. Thank you very much Donna. 🙂
Yay Warblers too! 🙂
What terrible news, HJ! I am so glad you weren’t hurt.
You have provided such a wonderful gallery of shots!
Thank you very much Clare, I appreciate your words. 🙂
I thought about you when i read about the tornadoes and I am glad to find that you and your birds have survived.
Thank you very much my friend. 🙂
Thanks for the preview of birds we will be looking for in a month or two! Glad you escaped the dangerous weather (it doesn’t seem right to call a tornado “weather”). We have had warnings over the years but maybe the lake protects us… Stay safe and warm. Love the grackle. 🙂
The birds are flying north, that for sure! The tornados are very dangerous and I don’t want them near my home. Thank you Lisa. 🙂

Un caro saluto,silvia
Esatto, mia amica Silvia. Saluto. 🙂
Lovely visitors, H.J. I try to imagine how natural disasters affect not only human, but animal lives as well. It must be devastating for them, too, and we never learn how many thousands of them lose their lives.
I totally agree with you Tanja. We, count human losses or cattle of any kind because the value in the pyramid of life but or farm birds but we do not count wild birds, only estimates. Most wild birds have a special sense of danger and usually flee the potential disaster area. Thank you for sharing. 🙂
