What’s Up? – Peace and Quiet
Peace and Quiet
My backyard has its share of local birds right now. In comparison to previous years I’d feel comfortable saying that I’ve seen less variety of birds.
I imagine for some birds might have been a bit too hot for their comfort in my area. For others I’d speculate the following: They have made adjustments from their usual return from migration to different locations with cooler temperatures based on the weather pattern changes.
My local birds show up daily for their meals. Let me tell you that they all have good healthy appetites.
My son Tyler started 3rd grade classes last Wednesday. End of School vacation! Oh Yeah!

Beautiful💕
Thank you very much Nidhi! 🙂
It’s hard to believe the kids are going back to school already. I have that three month summer vacation (from Memorial Day to Labor Day) so firmly implanted in my mind, these new ways of doing things just don’t “feel” right.
I do believe your butterfly is a Gulf fritillary — very pretty.
Here in Georgia the school starts earlier than many schools in other States.
Thank you Linda for sharing. The butterfly ID will be published in a few of days. Good luck my dear… 🙂
That’s a stunning picture of the unnamed butterfly I do hope someone can identifly it for you.
I already know the name Susan, it’s just like a quiz for my readers. Thanks for trying! 🙂
The butterfly is a stunner, HJ!
Thank you very much Indira! 🙂
You have at your disposal a variety of species. Surely you will get to know their names. The photos are great
Thank you M! 🙂
Always sad when the summer vacation ends and brings thoughts of autumn and winter to mind.
The Seasons bring change… Change is good for many reasons but the cycle repeats again. 🙂
Over the hot, hot weekend I think the birds are eating more food than they do in the winter. I guess it’s too hot to forage! …I’ll see if I can figure out the butterfly when I get home to my book.
Birds burn a lot of energy in hot days which they must eat to make up for the loss. Thank you Lisa. 🙂
Beautiful images, HJ! Yay, school restarted, back to a routine….but then there’s the homework, sometimes it’s mind-boggling with us having to help with all the ‘new’ learning ways! 😲 😉
Thank you Donna! Believe me with Tyler’s busy schedule, his vacation has been two months of coming and going, that’s why I’m glad he’s back to school. The “new way” was designed for dummies! 🙂
Wonderful to see your backyard visitors, HJ — and, as always, beautiful photos.
Thank you very much Jet! 🙂
Definitely a gulf fritillary. Maybe beyond the usual range, if you don’t usually see them where you are. RH
Thank you RH. It is a gulf fritillary, sometimes they come to my backyard. 🙂
