These birds always remind me of the toys we had as kids — the kind where you could put a cowboy’s head on a fireman’s torso, or combine a ballerina’s torso with a lumberjack’s legs. I don’t see many of these cowbirds, but when I see one, I smile.

What a beautiful shade of blue.
The bird’s body is black but reflects the sky. Their feathers act like mirrors. Thanks Julie! 🙂

Thanks Donna. These birds are tricky to photograph. The body feathers reflect the lights, however the head feathers absorb the light. 🙂
