  1. It’s a beautiful photo, though I always have mixed feelings about herons as one ate most of our Koi many years ago. Not sure I’ve ever seen a green heron….

    • Thank you Val! Any kind of of heron would have eaten the Koi, they love to raid urban ponds. I’ve seen people placing a mesh over the pond to protect them from birds. 🙂

  2. I’ve never seen an adolescent — now I’m wondering if they breed elsewhere, and only show up here (which they’re beginning to do) as adults. Such a nice photo — it really highlights those green legs. They’re one of my favorites: so small, and so noisy!

    • Green Herons are found in many places, the one depicted here was from a set of two (J) from a nest and these one descended from the nest in a tree and stood on a wooden fence for a little while and returned to the nest. It was the first time I saw Green Herons juvenile. Thank you very much Linda. 🙂
