What’s Up? – Not Bad at All…
Not Bad at All…
We’ve had a wonderful spring type, sunny and warm days! Very much as I suggested it would be last week. Today, as I write this, it’s raining intensely.
It was very therapeutic to have warm days, being able to open windows and seeing much more bird traffic in my backyard. here is a list of birds I’ve seen:
- American Robin
- Song Sparrow
- American Goldfinch (M & F)
- Eastern Bluebird (M & F)
- House Finch (M & F)
- Mourning Dove
- Northern Cardinal (M & F)
- Northern Mockingbird
- Carolina Wren
- Carolina Chickadee
- Brown-headed Cowbird (M & F)
- Brown-headed Nuthatch
- European Starling
- Pine Warbler
- Yellow-rumped Warbler
- Field Sparrow
- Tufted Titmouse
- Downy Woodpecker
- “Nutcase” (Squirrel)
As you can see, I had a good number of avian visitors…With their presence in my backyard it makes me happy and glad for their return. I have a nice photo gallery for you, The photos are from some of the birds listed above.

A friend sent me the following cut out from an Alabama Community Newspaper… Have a look:

Lucky you to have spring weather, thanks for all those beautiful photographs.
Thank YOU Susan for visiting my blog. I think our weather is going to be better from now on. 🙂
I am so pleased for you.
Oh how I enjoyed this parade of spring birds, HJ. Great to see so many species in the spring season. You get the Carolina wren and chickadee, a wonderful treat; and what bliss to have the pine warbler. I was tickled to see the brown-headed nuthatch checking out that adorable little bird house; a joy to see the robin; and I laughed out loud at “Nutcase.” And thank you for the photo of the yellow cardinal. I had heard about it, but I hadn’t seen it. What an incredible anomaly to see! Thanks for this cheerful visit today, much appreciated.
Yes, there has been and improvement to have a bit warmer weather, our plants are begging for the sun. The nuthatch is not checking that bird house, they are nesting there! The bluebirds are occupying the usual house (bluebird design made w/ cedar wood) I’ve seen RWBlackbirds but I haven’t photograph them yet.. About the yellow cardinal… I wish it comes here, it would make me very happy, he’s in Alabama, not far from us in Georgia! Thank you my friend. 🙂
Only Starting has ever appeared here in England in our garden. Even they are becoming increasingly rare because farmers insist on getting rid of all the bits of rough pasture.
How ironic… The North American population of 200 million constitutes a third of the world’s population but descends entirely from a population of some 100 birds that arrived in 1890. Thanks John for sharing. 🙂
Awesome gallery of your feathered friends, HJ! Thank you for sharing them as well as the article on the rare yellow Cardinal, I had never heard of this rarity. What a sight to behold, wouldn’t it be!!
Thank you Donna, you know well that I enjoy my birds as much as you do yours. I enjoy them even more when I share them with my friends. 🙂
It is very cheering to hear about your weather and see so many fine pictures of your visitors.
Thank you Rosa, I’m glad you like them. 🙂
What lovely visitors you received, H.J. Maybe the Yellow Cardinal will be among them one of these days!
That would be fantastic! Thanks Tanja! 🙂
Wonderful gallery HJ!
Thank you Clare, I’m glad you like it. 🙂
🙂
Is the picture in the paper one that you took? That’s a lovely gallery! Made me happy to see a squirrel too! They’re so great to watch!
The picture in the paper belongs to a photographer from Atlanta, the bird is in Alabama. All the other pictures I shot in my backyard. Thank you Arbie for your visit. 🙂
