What’s Up? – Cold Wave
Cold Wave
I try not to mention weather or weather temperatures, but it’s hard for me to ignore the fact that the extreme cold temperatures of our winter are way out of proportion compared to previous winters. There’s a “cold wave “ coming down from the Arctic that is affecting all usual patterns on record. I hope this wave is a one time thing and do not cause any damage but I wouldn’t like it to be as harsh every year.
Here in area where we live, are having very frigid nights and early mornings, then warms up slightly but the wind chill effect renders it be colder.
Every once in a while I check outside when the sun is going through the clouds and if I see any birds I try to do my best to get some useable shots for my blog. I have some images for you that I’ve been gathering. Notice that I had some Pine Warbles as visitors. I usually see them only once a year.

Sorry about your weather, loved the gallery you take such good pictures of your friends.
Bad weather or not…life goes on! Thank you Susan. 🙂
Beautiful collage of bird images!
Thanks Indira! 🙂
Your current cold wave sounds frigid, HJ, and rough. The birds are lucky to have such easy ways to eat, thanks to you, HJ. Wonderful to see the pine warblers, what a treat. Stay warm, my friend.
It’s not easy for them being outside, I just help my friends in need. Thank you Jet. Stay dry, my friend.
Glad to see you’re still having visitors and you’re able to feed them. Glad to see the Pine Warblers, what a treat! 🙂
I have a Mockingbird that waits for me in the morning to clean up and fill the feeders with seeds. He watches me from the roof of my house. As soon as I fill the feeders he fries very close to me and starts eating he loves the peanuts. He’s getting used to my presence. Thank you Donna. 🙂
That is so cool. Come on now, what’s his name? You gotta have a name to greet him! 🙂
The name is “Sheriff”!
The change in weather is concerning, for all creatures. The resilience of birds always amazes me, but it is not endless, of course. Even if it is a tiny contribution, feeding them helps.
Best wishes,
Tanja
That’s right! I give them some help, that I can do. Thank you Tanja. 🙂
I hope that you get back to more normal weather soon.
Thank you very much Tom! 🙂
We’ve also experienced a long cold wave here in central FL, but the air warmed up suddenly yesterday. Today over 70 F and birds at the salt marsh are much more active now.
Today is not so cold and we had periods of rain and a little bit of sun, but still not up to par with Georgia’s normal winter. Thanks for sharing Tiny. 🙂
I hope you get warmer temperatures soon, HJ! Lovely shots!
Thank you so much Clare! I hope so too. 🙂
🙂
Down under we have the reverse problem with the hottest days ever recorded here in Sydney
Isn’t that something? The weather patterns are going bonkers! Thanks Ashley. 🙂
