My Visitor: Ruby-throated Hummingbird

Ruby-throated  Hummingbird

The Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris) is a species of hummingbird that generally spends the Winter in Central America and migrates to Eastern North America for the Summer to breed. It is by far the most common hummingbird seen east of the Mississippi River in North America.

  1. Wonderful photos, HJ. Out in the west we have the Anna’s as our prevalent h-bird, equally as joyful to be around. I like that first photograph, as if she is looking at you with a question to ask.

    • The hummingbird and the mockingbird are the two birds that give me the feeling of communication. They look at me directly to the eye as if they are ready to talk. It’s funny that you made that comment. Thank you Jet. I appreciate it. 🙂
