Is this female a different species than most? I was wondering because the ones I have photographed are much lighter. Maybe it’s the lighting? Very nice shots!
The female perched on a bird house is a juvenile, their beaks are dark brown and their plumages are darker. The other two are sporting their plumage proper for this time of the year, when they get adult the body plumage turns beige hence lighter. Of course the light influence the tones, but in this case they are normal.Thank you Andy for that good question! 🙂
