It’s a gorgeous tall bird, a bit aggressive. I shot a series of pictures at about 50 ft. and it wanted to intimidate me holding her stare at me. They are experts at killing snakes. Thanks Jet! 🙂
The secretarybird or secretary bird (Sagittarius serpentarius) is a very large, mostly terrestrial bird of prey. Endemic to Africa, it is usually found in the open grasslands and savannah of the sub-Saharan region. Although a member of the order Accipitriformes, which also includes many other diurnal raptors such as kites, hawks, vultures, and harriers, it is given its own family, Sagittariidae.
Wow!
🙂
Fun photo!

One of my favorite birds on this planet. Great photo, HJ; you captured his intensity and head quills well.

In the wild they are quite difficult to see up close, which is why this photo is so fetching. My best to you, HJ~~
I love this! What bird is this?
