Red Cards
From all the birds that frequent my backyard daily, I’d have to say that the Northern Cardinals are the most popular with anyone that see them. Their colors are very attractive as much as their general appearance.
In many occasions I’ve been talking to any of my neighbors outside and I’ve seen their faces lightened up when they spotted Cardinals going to my feeders, the smile of delight it’s immediate!. Most people react the same when they see these beautiful birds.
I’m very happy to have them around all the time for sure! Sometimes I talk to my neighbors and some where in the conversation there’s always a question, what do you feed them? Because they claim that the Cardinals don’t go to their feeders. I always oblige and tell them exactly what I feed them and where to get the seeds. I have the feeling that my advise is not working out for them!

They are very colorful, beautiful birds.
Thanks Dan! 🙂
Most expressive of the feeder birds.
Thank you Victor! 🙂
They are so striking to look at, especially here among the snow and evergreens.
Oh yes! Thanks Cynthia! 🙂
There’s a lot to like: they’re big and bright and vocal. The colors on a cardinal are so stunning. Great photos HJ! 🙂
Thank you Jet! They are beautiful no doubt! 🙂
Wonderful!
Thanks Alois! 🙂
Very attractive red coloured birds! It’s amazing who they visit for their feed… you must be a friend they can trust 🙂
Thank you Iris! 🙂
I enjoy seeing cardinals at my feeders too. They aren’t as numerous as the cute juncos, but you are so right, the beauty of them always captures my attention while they are feeding.
Thank you very much for sharing! 🙂
Gorgeous birds.
Thanks so much Leya! You’re right! 🙂
Beautiful birds!
Yes they are! Thank you Clare! 🙂
You just know how to attract the birds better than your neighbours.
You might be right Tom! 🙂
I love them too! I think you have a “red thumb” because you get them coming to your feeder 🙂
Hey that’s a good one! Red thumb. Thanks Tiny! 🙂
They are stunning birds. You must be the cardinal-whisperer I wonder about how they keep their numbers up though as they must be highly visible to predators. Do you have many hawks, cats etc?
Oh yes! Hawks and cats, luckily there are voles in the field. The birds that once in a while fall victims are mostly doves.Thank you Jane! 🙂
Hey HJ, I just posted NCardinals captures also! 🙂 You know they’re one of my top-10 faves. As to why the neighbors don’t get the NCs? Because the NC’s know you as a trusted friend with awesome seed, always there for them no matter the weather. 😉 BTW, beautiful captures!
Thank you so much Donna for sharing! 🙂
So cute! Cardinals are the most cheerful bird to see in winter!
Thanks Lori! 🙂
