Not Cool…It’s Cold!
After having a glorious day on Saturday we are plunging into the low temperatures again. It is 2:00pm in the afternoon and the temperature reads 34ºF (1º C) as the High for the day. The wind chill makes it feel like 28ºF. The forecast calls for decreasing temperatures for the rest of the week (Below 0º F). As you can see it’s not a pretty picture! Not cool!
The positive thing we have now id that at least we have a bright day instead of the dark and gray days.
I wasn’t deterred by the weather and proceeded to shoot pictures which some of them will be displayed on this post. As always they were shot at different times of the day. Enjoy!

Cold temperatures are especially tough when you’ve just had a taste of spring. I’m glad the birds are keeping you active and creative, HJ. 🙂
I have to be like that I will not stop doing what I like to do. I feel like I have a responsibility to Nature and I want to do my part. I don’t believe on looking for other planets to live when I can’t even fix the one we had for so long.
All the rest is only to exercise my mind and ingenuity…Just like you do! Thanks Jet! 🙂
Enough of this polar vortex stuff! Love your birds, beautiful pictures.
I know, I know! It’s not going to stop me from doing what I love to do! Thank you sweetheart! 🙂
What a splendid collection of pictures, I liked the pair of Northern Cardinals the best, you were clever to get that one.
Thank you Susan, I knew you’d have a kick on that one! 🙂
Love the sassy Mockingbird. I have been putting out a handful of blueberries and my Mockingbirds have been gobbling them up. Fun to watch them grab the berries in their beaks.
I consider the Mockingbirds the guardians of the backyard, they can be a bit bossy but when there a predator posing any danger the Mockingbirds would defend the little birds very fiercely. Thank you Kathy! 🙂
Fitting title for them! I have heard them squawking out there warning when there is a cat or even a snake in the area.
I can’t pick a favourite – as soon as I think I have one I change my mind. The kissing cardinals are lovely though!
Thank you Clare! I understand, I like them all too! 🙂
Love the little Valentine smooch!
Thanks Carol! You’re a romantic woman! 🙂
Lovely photos of these beautiful creatures! They still come to visit you even on cold days, friends you do have! 🙂
That’s right Iris! I can’t abandon them, they’re loyal too! Thanks! 🙂
Wonderful, so nice to have someone so kind to them! 🙂
You did well to take such good advantage of some good light.
Yes indeed! Thank you Tom! 🙂
We could do with a bit of that cool here since its going to be over 90F today! Nice selection of small birds.
Not just a bit, you can take it all! Thanks Ashley! 🙂
Wonderful series, HJ, love the Cardinals! And NMockingbird shot too!! 🙂
Thanks Donna! 🙂
BTW HJ, hope you’re hunkered down for the storm, and get none of the ice. Our ground is white now, we’re to get 5-8″ of snow tonight, yippee! 🙂
Right this minute is raining buckets but is to turn to ice later. Yach! 😦
Too cold indeed but the birdies look lovely though… Particularly the Northern Mockingbird! ⭐ Great post HJ! ⭐ Best wishes, Aquileana 😀
Thank you very much Aquileana! 🙂
So sorry you have had a return to cold temperatures, H.J! 😦
I always adore your mockingbird photos! And the kissing cardinals are so sweet! ❤
I had a surprise visit from a Carolina wren yesterday! I got a few photos – not stellar ones as the light was horrible, but still good enough for a clear I.D.
We are supposed to get down to -13 Friday. Enough of this already!! Stay warm, my friend!
Thanks so much dear Amy! Please keep warm and comfortable in your home! Put another log in the fire and enjoy a nice reading! 🙂
Catching up with all my blogging friends is the best reading of all! 🙂
