Dashing Jewel

The Ruby-throated Hummingbird is one of my favorite birds that I definitely enjoy seeing in my backyard.

These dominate birds are beautiful in shape as well as in color. Very skilled flyers that can maneuver in such a way no other bird species can, such as hovering and flying in reverse.

Being so small they are easy to miss when surrounded by vegetation.

They are not afraid of bigger birds I’ve noticed, however, I saw a one fly away from a large wasp that was attracted by the nectar aroma.

The Ruby- throated are very playful with their mates.

I know that hummingbirds are not seen in many Countries… Well, you miss an incredible little bird!

But I have pictures for you, so don’t feel bad.

  1. Love your bird photos. Hummingbirds are some amazing creatures. I’m hoping to set up some bird feeders soon to give me a better opportunity for bird photos. If I can’t find them then maybe I can lure them to me. 🙂 Awesome shots and keep up the great work!

    • That’s great Jet! I’m sure that one of these days you’ll see one when you come to the East Coast. Thanks dear! 🙂

    • At least you have and idea by looking at the pictures. I’m sure you’d like them a lot in person. Thanks Susan! 🙂

  2. In my opinion, a photog. like you should arrange an exhibition – just hummingbirds, nothing else. And I reckon the doors would never be empty of people arriving to look at your GORGEOUS shots !!!!
