Peppermint Twist

May 1, 2014 7:40 am

On Monday night there was a Tornado Alert from the local authorities for our County starting at midnight. It was raining but about 4:20 am I woke up by the sound of heavy rain a thunders, flashes from lightening were very frequent and the wind picked up speed that could be heard sounding like a pack of wolves howling to a full moon. The air was saturated with a pungent smell of burned firecrackers. There were times that I thought we might be blown out because the intensity of the wind and the awful sound. Fortunately there were no damages anywhere in our community. A couple of patio chairs a small table and my hose where out of place and knocked down, but that’s all luckily.

Seems like we got a good soaking downpour which was definitely welcomed because our plants needed the water. I remember mentioning this on previous posting.

This morning started very dark but the sun rays are beginning to break through the clouds. Who knows?

“… it might turn out to be a sunny day after all. I’ll take that vs. a tornado anytime”

  5. Unbelievable to be able to get photos so sharp, crisp and clean of these birds. They never seem to sit still long enough for me!

  6. So glad you are okay and no real damage! I pray you are not experiencing flooding at the moment, as so many are in the south and east right now. Thank you for the indigo bunting photos today! Such a day brightener! Stay safe, H.J!

      1. Very glad to hear it! I hope your warm sunshine returns soon. We are in the midst of many dark, damp days here with very few peeks of the sun. :/ But at least we don’t get terribly strong storms here. We had some thunder and lightening a couple of nights ago, but nothing frightening.
