Computer Fix Saga
When things seem to be getting better, the opposite happens. I’m referring to my computer being out of order.
This is the way things developed: I got a phone call from the Mac Repair Service and was told that the computer was ready and working, to this effect I immediately asked “Is it really fixed?” The guy on the phone told me that they have made every test they can do and came out okay… but they have found the Logic Board to be flawed and they can not fix that in their Lab.
I said, “So you didn’t fix the computer!” He said, “You can still use the computer but it’s going to fail again at any moment. By the way your warranty has expired already and the only way would be to send your MacBook Pro to the main Mac Plant and they would replace any parts needed for $499.00 + Tax. this includes the migration of all data held in my computer. They FedEx the computer for refurbishing and FedEx back in one week or less.”
So I opted for the repair. (I wasn’t going to spend $ 1,500.00 for a new one!)
I returned home but I was feeling stomach ache for 2 or 3 hours… cool it HJ!

I know that feeling well, sorry HJ
That’s ok Bryan! Thank you! 🙂
Oh, dear! I’m so sorry H.J. We sure have come to rely on our electronic devices. I hope you get it repaired soon and no more headaches/stomach aches with it!! Best of luck.
Thanks a lot Amy! I hope so! 🙂
I feel sympathetic pains for you.
Thanks my friend! 🙂
Feeling your pain, but sounds like you’ve got a sure plan on getting it fixed now. Ouch on repair $$! Love Mr. NCardinal showing some attitude! 🙂
I guess is a calculated decision if I want to keep doing my work without going into a larger expense. Thank you Donna! 🙂
Typical scenario! We, especially me, are so dependent on our computers. Yet I managed perfectly well in the age i.e. the dinosaur age, before cellphones, computers, calculators, digital photography and even TV ;-0 The other day I actually had to WRITE something and found i had lost that skill.
All the best
Thanks Emy for sharing! 🙂
I think it’s the sad reality of the home computer age (which incredibly is almost 30 years old!) I myself have found replacement for one reason or another averaging every 4 to 6 years. And the first Apple IIGS cost more than an Apple Mac Book pro today, not figuring in inflation! M 🙂
I’ve had personal computers since the very beginning of the WWW and gone through about 20 if not more. It just bothers me when they break down for flawed construction, Thanks for sharing M! 🙂
You would think reputation would trump warrantee in a case like this, especially from Apple! There may be some solace in seeing their stock price slip about 9% this week! M
Actually, this was the first time that I had a problem with Apple OS, 7 years ago I got tired of PC and the hundreds of problems they had throughout the years.
This time got me angry because this was a flawed Logic Board and my warranty expired just days before. But that’s part of the business I guess. Thanks for sharing M! 🙂
