While I was in Peru…

From my last trip to Peru I had the opportunity to visit a number of fishing towns and ports along the coastal region.

Peru’s fishing production is amongst the highest in the world.

One good reason for having such rich natural abundance of fish is that the Humboldt ocean stream runs along about 3/4 of the length of Peru’s coast. This current is cold in temperature, ideal for the growth of the Plankton micro organisms which are the riches nourishment for most small fish such the anchovies.

Next I bring you pictures of some of the places I mentioned above.

  1. Beautiful H.J. Thanks for sharing. Those two rocks remind me of pyramids :-). Also curious as to the lack of vegetation by the sea shore. In one of the photographs there appears to be Cactus. Is most of Peru desert like? I mean is there very low precipitation in Peru?

    • Peru is a country of extremes when it comes to Geography, it has deserts that are total dryness, it has the Andes with very high altitudes and it has the Amazon jungle with more water that you can have.
The coastal area is mostly desert like land because the lack of rain.
Thanks for you comments MD! 🙂

      • Thank for the geographic lesson Santi. I just googled some images of Peru and I honestly did not realize that it was so topographically diverse :-).
