Red Summer
This post is about birds favorite of mine from my backyard. The Northern Cardinals. I estimate there are about 20 individuals that are nesting in the pine trees area at the creek in my backyard.
Of course they all come to forage at all times of the day and are constantly flying everywhere from plants to my deck or feeders. My backyard has a constant traffic of birds that come and go in all directions.
Most of the Northern cardinals unlike other birds, will stay local and will not migrate south for winter as I’ve observed they’ve done the four previous seasons. They are good looking birds and well liked by most people. They are my favorite subjects for photography!

I am so jealous! We don’t have them here.
😦
Sorry, I forgot to say how lovely your photographs are!
Thanks Julie! 🙂
Excellent pictures! I love the cardinals who visit my yard. At first, I had only one couple who came, now I have several. I got such a kick out of them. The male would come first, scope out the area, then fly to the bushes. Then his mate would come and he would watch in the trees tlll she was done eating. So precious.
Thank you very much for sharing S.! They are cautious for a short while and then they take over your yard and heart! 🙂
Being a native St. Louisan, I’m a HUGE Cardinal fan. 🙂 I’m a fan of your photos of them too. These are really lovely.
Lucky you, HJ, to have so many cardinals in your backyard! They photograph so bright and lovely.
How about your Ospreys? You’re lucky too Donna! 🙂
…..and another Russel Ray camping trip comes to an end………………..Hope all is well.
Yes, thank you Russ for your visit! 🙂
