Heat and Working Outdoors

Being outdoors is not fun right now, the high temperature is getting to me. As soon as I go out and start doing something I begin to sweat profusely that makes me very uncomfortable and thirsty.

Mowing the lawn and doing yard work is a big ordeal to do because the weather is very hot and humid.

I feel sorry for the birds also, I imagine that must be hard for them also. I don’t see it as nice shooting pictures of birds with their mouth open showing signs of being affected by the heat. I just want a regular summer with rain here and there hot but with less humidity.

Today I have a bit more of the poor little Ruby-throated Hummingbirds. I’ve noticed that the juice consumption has almost doubled, the poor things are drinking more liquid now.

  1. You are so compassionate for your subjects! This heat is really something and so are the little birds for enduring it. I leave the sprinkler on a shrubby tree out back a little while every day around 3pm and the birds flock to it for a shower.
