It’s Not Easy for Birds

Now that we are going through very hot days charged with humid air most likely thrown by the hurricane moving north of Florida panhandle and moving a bit into Georgia south.

For us it means hot weather but very humid. I go out and in matter of minutes I’m sweating copiously. It’s very uncomfortable to be outdoors. We have the AC running full blast and I even have the ceiling fans blowing to help circulate the air.

I feel bad for birds and this heat, they are not exposing themselves to open sun because they dehydrate too quickly. Most are in the shade, keeping their energy for later when the sun cast long shadows.

  1. Lovely pictures as always. It’s hard for our birds too, here in Cornwall, UK, not because of the heat but because it’s so cold and wet and windy. We’re not seeing many of the little birds at the moment. We could do with a bit of summer! 🙂

  2. Thank you for caring for the birds dear, weather will reverse in due time and you’ll be enjoying the sunny days too! 🙂

  3. I’ve always wondered where birds go during hurricanes. They don’t fly around but I never saw them being blown around either. And no dead birds on the ground afterwards. Did they also heed the warnings to evacuate?

    • Most likely they look for cover and lay low. Most animals can anticipate atmospheric changes better than your weather man! 🙂
