Seeing Red
My backyard is getting over populated by Northern Cardinals! They are all over the place, flying from here to there and chasing each other, at the feeders, on my deck. Seems to me that the families that are residents have grown to larger families. I’m not complaining at all! I’m merely reporting what I see in my backyard. I love these birds!
Do you want to know something funny? True story!
When my bird feeders get empty and it’s still early afternoon, the railing on my deck gets crowded with birds, mainly the Cardinals and stand there looking at us in the kitchen table through the glass patio door which I keep the blinds pulled all the way up. Then I know or my wife lets me know, “your tennants are hungry and they want more food and look like they’re ready to riot” So I have to schlept out and do a feeders refill! Can you believe that? 🙂 I fill them with seeds and then as soon as I turn around to walk back in the house, they all are fighting to get to the feeders!
Someone said that my backyard has more Cardinals than the Vatican!

Oh – this is hilarious! Send some over here please….
I wish I could, I know you’d take good care of them! Thanks Julie 🙂
love your shots of the cardinals!
Thank you Joanna! 🙂
They are lovely birds
Yes they are! They make my backyard more colorful! Thanks! 🙂
Ha, that’s hysterical. And, nice pics!
Thanks Mel! I’m glad that you liked it! 🙂
And they will be more fun to watch when they begin to bring their babies to the feeder.
I know, the babies are not as beautiful as the adults. I had those before, They are cute but not pretty. We love them too! 🙂
I love Cardinals! Whenever we take my parrot’s cage out into the backyard he attracts all sorts of Cardinals, Blue Jays and doves. Are you feeding them anything special?
They love the sunflower seeds!
So, is your parrot teaching the other birds how to talk? 🙂
I love your photos and am so envious of the wonderful birds you have in your garden! 🙂
Thank you for your kind words! 🙂
They are beautiful birds, and great photos HJ ,thank you
I thank you! for visiting my blog and your nice comment! 🙂
When I still had a car, we had a northern cardinal that would attack his reflection in the side mirror. When you mentioned them fighting with each other, it made me think of that. 😛
Sometimes birds get confused and believe that their reflection is a competitor and decide to attack. I’ve seen it happen before. Thanks for sharing Derrick! 🙂
Lovely captures HJ! I have always loved the cardinal. It must look beautiful seeing them flying about and perched around your yard!
Donna you have no idea! Now they’re getting all my attention! I’m not complaining! 🙂
Cardinals are the best – miss not seeing them here in the west!
You can always find them here on my Blog! And you don’t have to feed them!:)
On one stretch of a walking trail at a park nearby (Mariner Point Park), the cardinals all line up on a railing. About a dozen at a time. I haven’t been able to get a good photo, but it makes me smile whenever I walk past.
That photo if you ever take it, will be beautiful! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
They’re such beautiful, bright birds, how lucky you are to have so many 🙂 Great shots, I enjoyed the funny story too! ♥
Thank you very much Becky! 🙂
