Song Sparrows

Song Sparrows are not super atractive birds but are strong and sing nice songs. They are birds that stay local to an area and have their nests well set to weather the cold seasons, they are not migratory birds. They very seldom eat from a feeder, usually known as ground feeders. This species have been nesting in the bushes near the stream in the creek near my backyard. I saw them first time 5 years ago, so the ones I see now are the descendants several generations later.

  1. We have blue wrens that are everywhere but nowhere when I want to photograph them – your photos are fantastic. I love the tiny birds – so self-sufficent and hardy despite their tininess!

  2. I did photography most of my life however, my biggest challenge has been bird photography! I’m still trying to learn better techniques! It’s not easy! 🙂

  3. Great shots! I love reading about birds in other countries, especially ones which are similar to ours here but ever so slightly different. We have tree and house sparrows here, which look similar but to my knowledge don’t sing at all!

    • Thank you Jen! You’re right they are similar in many ways but there are differences from species to another. In the case of the House Sparrow is another story, they were brought to America from Europe and from a mere 6 or 8 they have reproduced into millions! They are considered invasive and destructive to local birds.

  4. These guys are cute. I always end up focusing on the branches around the birds, plus they move so fast… birdography…it really is the trickiest photography. I admire your expertise.

  5. Aha! A lot of people think that photographing birds is easy, they have no idea! You have to have the right equipment ( I mean the camera & lens) and the practice does it all!
Put it this way, I couldn’t cook like you cook Diva… in a 100 years!
