Passions in life

Sometimes it comes to my mind the question: Why didn’t I start bird photography years before? I traveled a lot, had many opportunities to dedicate some time to the birds that are my passion now, however I wasn’t interested then. Life is so full of twists and turns that is very hard to know what would you be doing next. Throughout my life I’ve had many passions some were less intense that other. I loved tennis, then bowling, rifle sharp shooting, ocean fishing, golf and the more intense still are photography, drawing and oil painting.

After a while I came to a conclusion: I think all these passions that manifest in stages of our lives are in parallel with age and opportunity.

I wonder what will be next?

  1. Hi HJ,
I have often wondered the very same thing, and come to a similar conclusion! It’s great to read about the person behind the beautiful photographs, so thank you for sharing a part of yourself along with these beautiful portraits. The Cardinal is greatly admired by us Australians too, it’s vibrant colours and character are irresistible, especially when seen against the contrast of drab winter-coloured surroundings. There are no birds remotely similar to it here. The House Finch and Cowbird remind me of the Australian Bassian Thrush and Masked Wood-swallow in plumage, although different in size. I have only ever seen these 2 species a couple of times in my lifetime so they are high on my list of ‘must-see’s’, as such it’s awesome to see similar birds here on your blog that come from the opposite side of the globe. Are they seen often or rarely in your area?

  2. Hi Cindy,
I wish all my visitors were like you, because you ask questions and you give important information at the same time, aside from being so kind. Cardinals, H. Finches and cowbirds are very common where I live, I can see them almost daily. The cardinals are one of the most popular birds because of their beauty. Except for the cowbirds all the rest I mentioned stay local, but when they return are very numerous and eat a lot of seeds from my feeders. 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing thoughts with me my friend.
