Moving feeders to safer place
Yesterday I spent some time rearranging positions for my feeders, closer to the trees and bushes. It’s a lot safer for all birds. Not they don’t have to be eating in an open area where they are more vulnerable to predators.
After I moved the feeders, didn’t take very long when a Cooper’s Hawk showed up but after a while, left with nothing, no casualties. I was glad in a way.
I also had a chance to photograph a Tufted Titmouse, not to easy to shoot because it moves to fast and never stays longer that a few seconds, It eats only the sunflower seeds, which I saw him cracking them open against the tree branch.
I’m not very happy with this set-up because it’s difficult to blur the background being so closed to the subject.
But I suspect that I’ll be getting more variety of species because it looks much safer for the birds. The sunlight is important for them related to safety. In an open area the sun may conceal a predator flying on a dive opposite to the sun.
I’ll be shooting from my deck now on in a different angle, I’ll try what I have now if not I’ll move the feeder to a more productive location.
