Great Blue Heron

Another favorite of mine is the Great Blue Heron. A slender bird with a tranquil attitude and elegant figure.

I enjoy taking pictures of this bird because I can see his stylized movements through the lens of the camera in close up. If you ever get the opportunity to find one of these birds, take your time and enjoy observing its mannerisms and even better if you can use your camera!

Red-bellied Woodpecker

The last time I was in Florida I had the opportunity to photograph the Red-bellied Woodpecker.

This bird has a favorite tree to look for insects and other creepy crawlers: High on the palm trees. Knowing their preference I always head for the tallest palm trees and look all around the trunk near the top. I do this because they creep around the trunk when they see someone approach the tree in other words they hide from you. I have noticed that most of the different types of woodpeckers use that same strategy to avoid intruders.

Snowy Egret

The Snowy Egrets are beautiful birds with a very delicate and slender bodies. Their plumage is white as snow hence the name. At the early years of the past century these birds where hunted to almost extinction exclusively for their feathers, used for women hats and fashion haute couture.
