While I was writing one post yesterday I had a moment of lucid mind… just for a second 🙂 !, I was trying to figure out the increase of feed consumption and also why certain birds are so eager to fill their *crop with such desperation.
* (Bag that holds their food temporarily), the function of this bag is:
Note: There are some birds that do not have the crop, their PH level is much higher, others eat vertebrates, forage in large prey.
My conclusion was that most birds do not pig-out entirely for themselves with abandonment, these noble birds feed their chicks also, I also believe that soon after, these will be waned at due time to get the food on their own.

My hopes for working outdoors mowing my lawn dissipated quickly because has rained most of the night and Thursday too! It wasn’t good for shooting pictures either. Not because any lack of birds but for I not wanting to shoot pictures of birds looking soaked and wet. That would be unfair and offensive to their beauty. But the rain did not deter them from showing up to the feeders and filling their guts. Actually I should reconsider what I just said. They eat more because the will be regurgitating it to their little ones (hatchlings).
Pictures that I’m posting today were shot before the rain, I shot them in the morning when the sun is rising for best effects.
If you read my next post for tomorrow I’ll be writing about the new fledglings and will show pictures of some of them. I’m sure you will like them.
Going back to today, I have the feeling that we’ll be having rain the rest of the day, the sky is overcast and dark, meaning that there’s still plenty of water to be delivered.
I’m going to work on getting my Hummingbird feeder ready and if I have a chance to go outside without getting soaked I’ll install it too.
Hummingbirds might not show up yet but I though I saw one flying over the other day. Could have been an insect, it was too far to be sure.
I bought plenty of seed for the rest of birds, I got also some the instant powder nectar for the hummingbirds, all I have to do is add water and stir it up and viola!
The metal stand where I hang the nectar feeder is going to need some repair. I’ll bring it in my garage and work on it. There’s always something to be done around here, and everything cost so much now!
