What’s Up?…

Summer Heat

Sometimes tempers flare up within the members of the flock…I’m not talking about any religious matters by the way, I’m referring to the Mourning Dove’s flock. At times the dove represent the symbol of Peace but believe it or not they are not quite pacific. When it comes to feeding, they can really stuff themselves without any regard for any other birds, including their own kind.

These birds are aggressive and also sexually impulsive…no wonder they are so many around! I think the humid heat is getting to them also, it may be harder for them to adapt to a new schedule to feed themselves, since they are always hungry! I have some photos for you about their table manners…

My Visitor: Ruby-throated Hummingbird

Ruby-throated  Hummingbird

The Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris) is a species of hummingbird that generally spends the Winter in Central America and migrates to Eastern North America for the Summer to breed. It is by far the most common hummingbird seen east of the Mississippi River in North America.
