What a weather we had this past week! We got the rain we wanted and more yet, also, warm weather, windy, almost daily. and then turned into very cold with differences of over 40ºF!
On Halloween night (Friday 31st) It was forecasted to rain all day! In the morning it was very dark and gray, it rained copiously all morning and until the late afternoon. Parents were thinking that Halloween night would end up being a wet one! Then, at late afternoon stopped raining but got very windy and cold. Luckily it didn’t at all afterwards. It turned out to be a happy and successful Witches Night.
Events in my backyard
Despite the daily rain, I had many visitors in my backyard, looking for their meals, soggy or not, they were eating the seeds, it is a critical time to be in good health to survive the coming winter or to migrate.
I was thrilled by one bird that will be on my “lifer” list as # 219. The bird is a Rose-breasted Grosbeak, which I will be posting Bird’s ID soon.
On Saturday (Nov. 2nd), we woke up to everything covered up with ice and the temperature was bellow 32ºF. I think it’s an early winter.
