Cranky Doves

The heat wave is still on in Georgia and making this summer hotter than usual. We’re not enjoying a regular season because of it!.  Being outdoors for any events is definitely uncomfortable. It takes a short time outside and very quickly, the heat becomes intolerable for anyone. I for one… get sweaty and cranky!

I imagine that this weather conditions also affect the bird’s mood because I’ve noticed the Mourning Doves getting a bit rowdy and quite confrontational. Sometimes I see  there’s a melee going on with the doves in the middle of it all and seeds fly around or the clay saucers fall to the ground making a real mess, then by day’s end the birds have eaten every seed that was spilled.

It hasn’t rained since early last week, the humidity is really high everyday and makes the air steamy…Yuk!

    • I understand, the heat wave is affecting many Countries in the world, I hope we don’t have it ever again! Thank you Susan! 🙂

  1. Poor you HJ! How awful for you. I am wishing some gentle rain and cooling breezes come your way. I love these shots with the seed flying everywhere and the starling bouncing out of the way in the first picture!

    • My A/C is on 24/7 in my house (central air) My electric bill is going through the roof but, just like you I love A/C to sleep well. Thank you Carol! 🙂

    • Thanks for your vote of confidence my friend. Just look at the violence stats and the crime rate increasing in hot summers. The heat does influence our psyche for unruly behavior. 🙂

  2. I can testify that I, too, get very cranky when I get too hot and sweaty! 🙂 I’m thankful to live in the north where we are getting a heat wave, but it has been very tolerable for the most part and never lasts for long. I don’t think I could survive in the south. I hope you get some relief soon, H.J!

Fun shots of the mourning doves and their little squabbles.
