Ten Thousand Birds – Book Review
“Ten Thousand Birds” – Ornithology since Darwin.
This is the title of a new book that will be published on February 26th, 2014 by Princeton University Press. This fascinating book is the product result of a tremendous effort of investigation, compilation and study made it possible by the authors: Tim Birkhead, Jo Wimpenny and Bob Montgomerie.
An impressive chronologic explanation in clear terms and comprehensive language of the development of the Ornithology science, the great leap that took with the advance of technology and the open mind approach of the modern theories and research. Bird lives was suddenly the interest of many scientific scholars, finding a trove of information on the incipient study of Ornithology.
Reading this book is so important in order to understand the tremendous effort that scholars went through in order to reach the point of knowledge in Ornithology that we are now. I recommend reading this “treasure” book. It will get a prominent place in my home library!
