    • For many people these birds are referred to as ugly or dirty. They are neither! They may eat carrion but their preening time is continued and their body has a potent anti-bacterial substance that makes them immune to bacterial attacks. We humans most likely carry more bacteria than them.
      I’ve seen the Condors several times but never had the chance to photograph them. Maybe I’ll visit the Andes again in the near future. Thank you Carmen for sharing. 🙂

      • I appreciate your comment, HJ. This is why I wrote my blog post Beautiful Vultures –to bring facts about these wonderful creatures and shots on their beauty. One of my readers was even surprised to see that they can be indeed beautiful.

        Highly misunderstood, they are the sanitizers of the world. Their cleaning up after predators have eaten minimise the spread of deseases to humans. They should be thanked profusely for this! 🙂
