Great Looks!

There’s a bird that visits my backyard not so often but it does. These birds install fear to most of my local birds, I’m referring to the Cooper’s Hawk, a raptor, quite common in this part of Georgia.

As I stated before, they come to my backyard once in a while looking for a meal. The usual victims are voles, chip monks, small snakes and mourning doves.

I’ve notice that they do not hunt the same place often, which is good, they space out their visits I’d estimate them to be a couple of times a month.

Most people like the looks of any raptors because of their obvious good looks and strong poise.

Next, I brought you a few photos of the Cooper’s Hawks. Enjoy!

  1. Extraordinary!. How wonderful to see them from close. You have captured great details on this magnificent bird. I love how the tail is dipped in the water, the intense glance, the marvelous plumage, the striking pose. Beautiful pictures, thank you!.

  2. Great looks indeed! I’m not home to see the Cooper’s in my neighborhood but one was flying over on a mission this morning on my way to the train. They are so beautiful. Great shots!

  3. Love that shot of the hawk on the pot of water – gorgeous! And that last up-close shot, as well. The detail of the tail feathers on that last one – magnificent! We have a sharp-shinned hawk that often uses my bird feeders as its personal buffet. It’s all part of the circle of life.

    • I do not interfere with the circle of life, feel sorry but is a natural law and I understand it. Thanks for your kind comments Amy! 🙂
