Juvenile

I’ve had Eastern Towhee birds nesting in my backyard since I first moved to my home a few years back. I have photographed them countless times but always while they were adults.

This time I was lucky enough to photograph a juvenile E. Towhee!

The Eastern Towhees are normally very independent, they are never seen in groups or flocks. When they become a couple generally fly together or not far from each other.

The male bird has the head, back, tail and breast black, with light brown flanks and white underparts. Their eyes are red for both male and female.

The female is brown in all parts that are black for the male the rest are identical.
