Local Count

Now that most fledglings are off their nests I came out to a conclusion that the most prolific species in my local birds population for this season are the House Finch.

Making comparisons to the field sparrows, northern cardinals, song sparrows, northern mockingbirds, carolina chickadees and mourning sparrows. By far the house finches are more prolific this year. I put northern cardinals in second place.

Early in the morning I refill the feeders and I can see birds on my roof top and trees birds waiting. As soon as I finish the feeders placed on the deck’s rail a mockingbird comes to eat, I’m still at about three feeds from him and he doesn’t mind, he’s used to humans I guess.

I love all that stuff with birds!

  1. I love seeing your bird pix. Over here in my garden in England I placed the bird table near my kitchen window. It is a great joy to welcome our visitors. Many live in the trees in the garden. For interest most prolific are Wood Pidgeon,Sparrow, Blue Tit, Yellow Tit, finch with odd raids by Rooks and Magpies. Most loved are our little Robins:)

    • Thank you very much Elly, indeed, birds bring joy and color to our lives. I’m happy to have people like you not only as follower so much as a friend. 🙂

      • You are very welcome! By the way I have a new visitor to the garden, a lovely little field mouse. There is also a very cheeky squirrel who helps himself:)

      • I have little voles and chipmunks here! They’re part of the equation, ‘you know! 🙂
