Tufted Titmouse

The Tufted Titmouse is a pretty bird that looks like a drawing animation or a toy bird. Fast flyer and not so easy to photograph. I’ve observed this bird’s habits and one of them is that they repeat their feeding techniques to the letter, what I’m trying to say is:

The T.Titmouse flies to a feeder and grabs a sunflower seed, then he flies back to wherever it will open the seed and eat the pulp, (Meanwhile, you get your camera ready and focused to where he grabbed the seed the last time) and that bird will fly right back to that very same spot! All you will have to do is click the shutter! That trick works for the C. Chickadee also.

Actually, this bird is close related to the Chickadee family, is a songbird and an omnivore that feeds on berries, seeds, insects, worms.

Is found in Eastern and part central Canada, in the USA its habitat is from the Great Lakes all the way to the Gulf of Mexico and Eastern North and South.

    • The word titmouse descends from the Old English terms, tit (any small animal or object) and mase (small bird), essentially meaning one small, small bird. Of course that later degenerated to Titmouse.

  1. You did a great job photographing them Av. I guess you are such an experienced birder and as you say they return to the same spot made your job a little easier. Would love to see one here in Newfoundland
