A Field Guide to Birds of New Zealand – Book Review
A Field Guide to Birds of New Zealand by Julian Fitter and Don Merton
“Pocket size book, ideal to carry with you when you visit this interesting country. Incredibly well planned thorough about information and precisely accurate descriptions to help the reader and brilliantly adorned with rich color photographs. This guide is a tribute in a way to one of the co-authors Don Merton (1939 – 2011) renown advocate for Ornithology and conservation of birds in New Zealand.
It’s amazing the large variety of Aquatic and Seabirds this remote country hosts. Nearly two thirds of this book are dedicated to these birds! It’s paradise for any birdwatcher, bird photographer or studious Ornithologist. If I ever have the opportunity to visit New Zealand the first thing I’ll put in my bag is this fine Field Guide!”
