News from Princeton University Press

I’m posting a message from our friend Jessica at Princeton University Press. She has interesting words for our friends at My Backyard Visitors…

“Hiya,

I’m writing with two bits of news. First, copies of our new field guide Parrots of the World by Joseph M. Forshaw with illustrations by Frank Knight have just landed on my desk. Would you like a review copy?

You may recall that we published a gorgeous oversized identification guide to Parrots of the World several years ago. The new book is a field guide version of that book – so same beautiful illustrations and authoritative text from Joe Forshaw, but with a more affordable price and an easy-to-use format and size. Auk called the ID Guide “an essential tool” while Roger Wilkinson said it was “a very valuable reference text” in the Newsletter of the World Parrot Trust. For a sneak peak at what a page spread looks like in the new Field Guide, click over to our blog: http://press.princeton..edu/blog/?p=6621. I am happy to send you a copy of the book if you are interested in writing a review. Just let me know.

Second bit of news is that on our blog this month, we’ve been featuring another field guide – The Princeton Field Guide to Dinosaurs by Gregory S. Paul. For the last week or so, we’ve been posting a Daily Dinosaur. I know this isn’t birds proper, but perhaps you are familiar with Gregory’s work because he was one of the first dino experts to illustrate dinosaurs with feathers. You can view the dinos so far here: http://press.princeton.edu/blog/category/books/the-princeton-field-guide-to-dinosaurs/daily-dinosaur/

Thank you for reading,

Best,
