H.J. Ruiz – Avian101

My backyard was a very busy and crowded place yesterday, not with people but with birds, young and old. Here’s the list of visitors:

– Northern Cardinals, at least a dozen at one time, old and young.

– Northern Mockingbirds (See photos) Approx. maybe 8 at a time.

– Brown-headed Cowbirds, about 20.

– Red-headed Woodpecker, 2.

– Mourning Dove, 6 or 8.

– Red-winged blackbird, about 4.

– Common Grackle, 2.

– Indigo Bunting, 1.

As you can see for a hot day that many birds it’s not bad at all. Of course they were all over the place both parents and kids, calling, chasing each other, feeding, etc.

The activity going on was very inspiring to observe. I feel good about it. 🙂
