Color blind & birds

The least I can do for my most assiduous backyard visitors is to include them more in my blog. I’m talking about the Brown-headed Cowbirds.

I’ve noticed during my conversations with other people, the undermining of the reputation of blackbirds. Not all blackbirds are crows eating unfortunate creatures that perished under the weight of cars. From all the variety of blackbirds the behavior of one ripples out to the rest of the family.

I’ve learned to respect the birds in many ways and my brain doesn’t register any distaste for any birds. (Especially chicken!! :)…sorry I couldn’t help myself to infuse my sense of humor)

Seriously, I love birds more now that I observe them and analyze their behavior. They are not much different than us humans.

Couple of Brown-headed Cowbirds early a.m.

First at the feeders!

Under the rain, this Brown-headed cowbird changed color!

Handsome and ready for the picture!
